Mr. Miller received his B.A. degree in Psychology with cum laude honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1997. Following extensive traveling abroad, Mr. Miller returned home to Houston where he attended South Texas College of Law, graduating in 2002. During law school, Mr. Miller was a member of the South Texas Law Review serving with distinction as both an Assistant Articles Editor and Assistant Note & Comment Editor. Mr. Miller also received a number of national awards in connection with the school’s Trial Advocacy Program which consistently ranks among the country’s top 10 every year. To further his pursuit to hit the ground running upon graduation, Mr. Miller was also employed during law school as a full-time law clerk where he provided critical support on a number of high profile commercial litigation cases.
Upon graduation and admission to the Texas State Bar in 2002, Mr. Miller joined a boutique law firm in Houston where he had the unique experience of working on vast multi-million dollar complex commercial litigation matters in federal courts across the country. The areas of his practice included software development litigation, trademark infringement defense and prosecution, labor and employment, real estate, international programming contracts disputes, consumer and retailer class action defense, anti-theft and piracy related actions involving intellectual property of a Fortune 300 telecommunications provider.
In 2008, Mr. Miller joined Carlson Law Group, Inc. as an associate with the excitement of beginning a new chapter in his legal career in California. Mr. Miller’s practice consists of general, business and commercial litigation and insurance coverage matters. Mr. Miller focuses a large portion of his practice on the defense of real estate and mortgage brokers. He has a proven track record of helping his clients navigate the intricacies of construction defect, zoning and land use, foreclosure proceedings, landlord and tenant disputes, lending laws and premises liability to achieve favorable outcomes in both commercial and residential sectors. In addition to serving as litigation counsel, Mr. Miller regularly advises his clients on risk management issues related to the development, maintenance and procedures for profitable business operations with a goal to avoid unnecessary and costly litigation.
Mr. Miller is admitted to practice before all courts in California and Texas, the United States Court of Appeal, Seventh Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Central District of California, the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas and the District of Colorado. Mr. Miller’s professional memberships have included the Texas Young Lawyers Association, California Young Lawyers Associations, Los Angeles County Bar Association and the American Inns of Court.
